The inner world of Pierre Ruet

Evocative of the conceptual realm of dream and poetry, Pierre Ruet’s art represents an extensive analysis of the pictorial world. He draws out an invisible world, stylised to the utmost, that can be apprehended only through careful attention and curiosity. Delivered in a modern style, his canvases reveal a double perception rendered possible through a spiritual representation combined with a virtual approach. Against a moiré backround, not unlike Tachism, often treated with monochrome charcoal, at times highly coloured, an original powerful composition awaits us. Sometimes simplified to the extreme, sometimes of a benevolent mannerism, these works reveal in their diversity all the creativity of the artist’s imagination. Using his layers of colors in techniques ranging from impasto to the finest watercolour, Pierre Ruet depicts soloist musicians, compact forests, bullfighting scenes, nudes and all kinds of other subjets. Paradoxically, the voluntarily austere colours contrast with outbreaks of light of a virginal softness. In a very contempory style, the light is made marble, the subjets daring. Revolt runs like a leitmotif through the works shouting out its own reality. Pierre Ruet pursues the solidity of the old Masters while proposing new perspectives in a constant endeavour to reveal authentic feelings stripped of all a priori while honouring the materials at his disposal.
